Turn Your Old Car Into New Hope
Donate Your Vehicle to Huschka House
Donating a vehicle is one of the biggest ways to support our young adults, and one of the easiest. Huschka House partners with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services), a 501(c)(3) vehicle donation program. They take care of pick-up, sale, and paperwork, and the net proceeds come to us.
What can I donate?
Cars, trucks, trailers, boats, RVs, motorcycles, campers, off-road vehicles, planes, heavy equipment, farm machinery, and most other motorized vehicles. Running or not, it just needs to be in one piece, towable, have an engine, and be accessible to a tow truck.
How it works
-
Fill out the online donation form (button below) or call CARS.
-
A tow vendor will call, text, or email you to schedule a free pick-up. The call may come from a number you don't recognize.
-
Remove your belongings and have your title ready. The tow driver will show you where to sign it, so please don't mark it beforehand.
-
After pick-up, notify the state that you no longer have the vehicle. Cancel your insurance only after you've done this.
-
Once the vehicle sells, you'll receive a thank-you letter that serves as your tax receipt. This usually takes 4 to 12 weeks.
What you'll need
A current, clear title. If there's a lien, it must be released by the lender. If more than one owner is listed (without "and/or" between the names), all of them need to sign.
What does it cost?
Nothing to you. Towing is free, and costs are taken out of the sale price.
Tax benefits
Vehicle donations are tax-deductible if you itemize. If the vehicle sells for more than $500, you'll receive an IRS Form 1098-C showing the sale price.
Please check with your tax advisor about your own situation.
